on being social

Without social media I wouldn’t know where/how many people live. I wouldn’t envy their picture perfect vacations and creative home spaces.

I wouldn’t be the wiser.
Without social media I wouldn’t realize that others share my same passions, quirks and hobbies. I wouldn’t be able to make connections and break down walls.

I would feel alone.

Without social media I wouldn’t necessarily know people’s personal beliefs or political convictions. I would be exposed to fewer philosophies and ideologies.

I wouldn’t grow.

There are two ways to view any situation. Many people criticize the version of people they see on social media. As if people don’t post the truth about their lives. And then label others as over-sharers. There’s no winning. As a matter of fact, it isn’t a contest. So go on, use social media for what you want. Those who judge will do so regardless of what is posted.

I love words. My head swirls with words. I have many deep thoughts. Some thoughts plague me. In order to release them, I have to assign words. Once the words are strung together, I feel free again.
